Threws Senior Membership is designed to cater to experienced researchers and professionals who are committed to advancing their knowledge, networking, and impact within the research community. To be eligible for Threws Senior Membership, individuals should meet the following criteria:

  1. Educational Qualifications: Hold a minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent in a field related to research, science, engineering, technology, or a relevant area of study.

  2. Professional Experience: Have a demonstrated track record of significant professional experience in research, innovation, or academia. Typically, a minimum of five years of relevant experience is preferred.

  3. Contributions to Research: Showcase a history of contributions to the research community, such as publications, patents, projects, or presentations, which reflect your commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation.

  4. Passion for Collaboration: Exhibit a passion for collaborative research and a desire to engage with a diverse community of like-minded individuals, sharing insights and expertise.

  5. Commitment to Learning: Show a commitment to continuous learning, staying updated on the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies relevant to your field of research.

Application Process  Senior Membership (Email Submission)

Step 2: Prepare Your Application Documents

Gather the following documents and information to complete your application:

  • A copy of your resume or curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Documentation of your educational qualifications.
  • Evidence of your professional experience in the field of research, such as publications, patents, projects, or presentations.
  • A brief statement of purpose (500 words or less) explaining your motivation for joining Threws Senior Membership and how you plan to contribute to our community.
  • Contact details, including a valid email address.

Step 3: Send Your Application via Email

Compose an email to with the subject line “Threws Senior Membership Application – [Your Name].” In the body of the email, briefly introduce yourself and express your interest in applying for Threws Senior Membership.

Attach the application documents mentioned in Step 2 to the email. Ensure that these documents are in PDF or Word format for easy processing.

Upon receiving your email application, our membership review committee will carefully evaluate your qualifications, experience, and statement of purpose. This review process may take a few weeks to ensure a thorough assessment.

Step 6: Notification of Membership Status

You will receive an email notification regarding the status of your application. If your application is approved, you will be provided with instructions for the next steps, including payment of membership fees.

Step 7: Membership Fee Payment

Pay the applicable Threws Senior Membership fee through the provided payment instructions. Once your payment is confirmed, you will officially become a Threws Senior Member.

Congratulations! You are now a part of Threws Senior Membership, where you can enjoy exclusive benefits, engage in collaborative research, and contribute to our vibrant research community.

As an industry focused society, to be a Student Member  you must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Must be enrolled in a university and carry at least 30% of a normal full-time academic load.
  2. Must have an academic concentration in petroleum or a related field.
  3. And at least one of the following:
    • Be pursuing the equivalent of a bachelors or graduate degree.
    • Attend a university with an established  student chapter.

Threws will contact your student chapter faculty sponsor to verify enrollment, or request a copy of your current transcript or proof of enrolment.

There are many opportunities to network and develop your skills through Threws programs and events. We also offer discounts on resources, scholarships and fellowships, and access to a global community to help build relationships with your peers.

The membership year is 1 January though 31 December. Members who choose Option 2 and join after 1 September pay for the following calendar year and receive the remaining months of the current year at no additional cost.
